First Freedom Ride – 4 Days B&B Fully Guided
Friday 25th June – Monday 28th June – £450.00 p.p.
We have all been through some trying times this year. At Mavericks we’ve been watching the clock and planning for things to ease so that we can return to our favourite pastime.
On this scenic trip, we have put together a route that takes in numerous stops and wonderful sights to see on some of the finest roads to ride.
This is a quality break and we’ve picked great hotels with facilities to suit many needs, so at the end of a days riding your hotel should be as comfortable as your bike, or more so! Each hotel has a restaurant and a bar menu also a residents bar at your disposal.
As usual with Mavericks trips, we incorporate a lead guide and a tail end support rider. This is not a race it is intended to be enjoyed, should anyone feel the need for speed we can arrange to meet up at suitable points along the route.
A point to note is checking the fuel range on your bike as its easier and quicker if we all fuel together. We’ll stop once each day for fuel to give us time to enjoy the full tour.
Day 1 – 200 Miles – Derwent Manor via Tan Hill ‘The Highest Pub in England’.
After a short motorway ride, we spend the day winding through beautiful scenery taking in Ribblehead Viaduct before arriving at Derwent Manor on the outskirts of Durham for a night in a premier collection hotel with free WiFi, 24 hour room service and full hotel facilities.
Day 2 – 4 hours 146 miles – Kielder Forest, Reservoirs, Beef Tub and Lockerbie.
Easier days riding today in terms of mileage but still plenty of stops and things to see and superb scenery and great roads for riding. Leaving Derwent we head off and take in the beautiful forest, two stunning reservoirs and the famous Beef Tub before arriving at another quality hotel in Dumfries.
Day 3 – 4 hours 13 minutes, 142 miles – Lockerbie to the Lakes, and Keswick
After breakfast keeping away from the motorway we head for Port Carlisle and cover part of the Solway Firth dropping down through Wigtown, through Keswick and Ambleside turning left in Ambleside we take the famous Kirkstone Pass to Pooley Bridge up to Mungrisdale, looping over through Caldbeck and onto Keswick before arriving at our signature collection hotel in Keswick.
Day 4 – 4 hours, 180 miles – Land Speed Records & Gently Homeward
On our final day we head for Coniston to the scene of Donald Campbells ill-fated world record attempt. After here we head to the Lakeland Motor Museum (admission £9.50 pp), we can book this in advance if everyone wants to visit and see the Campbells family`s record holding cars and boats plus a superb car & motorcycle museum. From here we re-join the M6 and head south, homeward bound.
On this trip you’ll have the services of a tour guide for four days. Route details will also be shared with you in advance. A second support rider will also be attending to assist the group. Hotel accommodation is based upon twin-occupancy and includes breakfast each morning.
